60% of mature or part-time students think about dropping out of education

Liam Burns, NUS president, highlights some shocking statistics and provides reasons for why mature and part-time students should join us on Wednesday 21 November at the national demonstration.

60% of mature students have though about dropping out for financial reasons, issues around childcare or inflexibility in their courses. And the government are yet to act.

Over half of all mature students have had to take on addition debt, whether that is commercial debt or debt to friends and familiy, and that is above their student loan.

It cannot be acceptable that people are having to make choices between supporting their young ones, or getting an education.
