What will the demo look like?
The national demo is called ‘#demo2012: Educate, Employ, Empower’. It will take place on Wednesday 21 November, and will involve a march through central London.
Demonstrators will assemble at a key rally point where there will be a range of high profile political speakers. With placards, banners and chants we will be using the opportunity to educate the public about our concerns, and to demonstrate to policy makers that we are united in our demands.
The route and other logistics
The plan for the demo will be as follows (map below):
11:00 March assembles in Temple Place
11:45 March sets off from Temple Place
14:00 Rally in Kennington Park starts
15:00 Rally in Kennington Park ends and people depart
NUS are doing all that we can to promote an event which is both relaxed and inspiring. It is our intent to create a friendly atmosphere, reflecting the diversity of participants, however, we cannot do this alone. We ask all participants of the demonstration join in the march and rally in a positive way to ensure that everyone wanting to participate can do so, and that this event is safe for demonstrators, volunteers and members of the local community. Our voice is much more powerful as a collective and we believe that a safe show of numbers and support can help us influence decisions ahead of the 2015 General Election.
